I-MAT - Institute of Materials Federation
The Institute of Materials (I-MAT) Federation has the aim of promoting research in cross-disciplinary topics in the 4 laboratories of CY Cergy Paris Université, ERRMECe, GEC, L2MGC and LPPI, which are founding members.
- Authority
- CY Cergy Paris Université
- Reference
- FD 4122
- Research center type
- Federal research structure
Organization
The federation brings together more than 70 researchers, 10 BIATSS (library, engineering, administration, technical, service and healthcare staff) and an average of 70 doctoral students and post-docs. These researchers are spread out across the 4 laboratories making up the federation and the “Microscopy and Analysis” platform
Activities
Research topics
The I-MAT Federation aims to synergise all actions jointly undertaken by at least 2 member laboratories of the Federation.
Its main missions are:
Its main missions are:
- Active participation in fundamental and applied research by seeking synergy between laboratories,
- Conduct of research projects, studies, expertise, services and specific training at regional, national or international level
- Promotion of research
- Dissemination of knowledge and training through research
- It oversees and coordinates the activities of the Microscopy & Analysis platform
- Materials for health
- Materials for heritage
Equipments
The I-MAT federation relies on the resources of the 4 laboratories and the “Microscopy & Analysis” platform.
This platform offers imaging and analysis services in application fields such as plastics, microelectronics, metallurgy, civil engineering, living beings or cosmetics. The complementary services provided by the platform makes it possible to propose multimodal characterisation approaches by scanning a wide range of observation scales (from cm to nm).
For further information, please contact the director Sébastien PERALTA

Academic programs
The I-MAT federation participates in the training of doctoral students through the Science and Engineering (SI) doctoral school in the following specialisations: Infrared and Raman spectroscopies, Microscopies, 3D printing and Rheology.
