The Research Department:
The Research Department supports the development of researchers and laboratories and implements the institution’s Research policy.

The Project Engineering (IP) department assists research lecturers, professors, scientists and technical staff in structuring and carrying out their research projects

There are two main categories of funding:
Funding by the State through the Fonds unique interministériel (interministerial unique fund), the Ile de France Region, the ANR (National Research Agency) or other Public Interest Groups, or by European programmes (H2020, ERC, Marie Slodowska Curie, COST, etc.); but also through foundations that work closely with the University.
Funding by companies, most of the time within the framework of research agreements signed with external partners at national, European and international level.

The Intellectual Property and Valorisation department (PIVA) implements the actions required for research valorisation

Missions and contacts - Intellectual Property and Valorisation (PIVA)

The team negociates and drafts the various research agreements (around 200 agreements signed every year). They also have the role of identifying and assessing valorisation and transfer projects, and advising researchers and doctoral students on the best possible ways to transfer their projects.

The PIVA department supports CY in its strategy and the protection of its intellectual property. It informs researchers and advises them on protecting any present or future intellectual property rights generated during their research and on the possible use of these rights (licence, patent assignment, etc.) in association, where justified, with the ERGANEO SATT (technology transfer acceleration company).

The Doctoral Studies department assists doctoral students from their enrolment in a doctoral programme to their thesis defence and also prepares them for their postdoc

Missions and contacts - Doctoral Studies

The Doctoral Studies department provides and organises in-service or cross-disciplinary training for doctoral students, to facilitate their thesis work and prepare for the rest of their professional career: conferences, round tables, small group workshops, one-to-one tuition. It also organises events for doctoral students throughout the year: welcome day for new doctoral students, graduation ceremony for doctoral graduates, the My thesis in 180 seconds competition, Doctoral seminars, etc.

It also supports doctoral school directors and assists in the development of doctoral studies in the context of institutional transformations.

The Administration and Coordination department is tasked with implementing the institution’s research policy and supporting its laboratories and researchers

Missions and contacts - Administration and Coordination

The department is responsible for the organisation of research bodies and ensuring that any decisions taken are implemented. It assists professors and lecturers in the administrative procedures concerning their research career (HDR, change of CNU section, emeritus request, etc.) in conjunction with the human resources department.  

It also manages the research budget, helps the research units or federative structures to construct their budgets and supports them in their projects.

The Administration and Coordination department also provides assistance for drawing up the five-year research agreements and provides indicators to help with research management. It works with research stakeholders at national level: it maintains links with the ministry and other laboratory supervisors. It responds to inquiries from the ministry or research networks.

Lastly, the department contributes to the dissemination and popularisation of the institution’s scientific culture.
